Biography
Mayor Novak is a Colorado native, and has lived in Northglenn since 1962. She has served on Northglenn’s City Council since June of 1991.
She was first appointed to fill a term in Ward I and was elected to two four-year terms in 1992 and 1996. In November of 1999, she was elected
to a four year term as a Ward 4 Councilmember, and in November of 2001, was elected Mayor. In November of 2005 she was re-elected and will serve as Mayor until January 2010.
Kathie works for the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center where she is the Director of the Rocky Mountain Program at the Graduate School of Public affairs.
She also consults in the areas of process facilitation, leadership development, management training, team building, and retreat facilitation. She has worked as an international
consultant, specializing in program development, curriculum development, and training. She is currently an instructor at the University of Colorado at Denver,
teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level. Kathie has worked in private, public, and not for profit sector organizations.
Kathie Novak earned her Master of Science in Management from the University of Colorado at Denver, and has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration
from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Her awards include "Businesswoman of the Year", awarded by the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce, "Excellence in Teaching Award", from Regis University,
and was selected as the "9NEWS Leader of the Year" in 2004. Kathie is listed in several Who's Who publications and was awarded an American Marshall Memorial Fellowship,
for travel in Summer 2002.
Kathie and her husband share their home with their five children and a myriad of pets.
