It’s the end of the year and an end of an era, so to speak. We are getting ready to welcome new council members on Northglenn City Council, but at the same time we are letting go of some long-time-serving council members. I would like to dedicate my first article in honor of those who have served this City Council for so long. An especially warm thank you to our own Bill Goodspeed of Ward 1 for his 22 years of dedicated service as a City Council representative to residents in Northglenn, as well as Bill Gillespie, Ward 4 (17 years), Marge Carlow, Ward 2 (8 years), and Robin Tichy, Ward 3 (4 years).Thank you all very much for your dedicated years of service to the residents of Northglenn. The time really does pass quickly when you are in this position. A reception was held last week to honor the outgoing council members. I apologize for not getting the newsletter out sooner so that you would have had an opportunity to be there. If you would like to send a card or note to the outgoing council members, you may mail it to PO Box 330061, Northglenn, CO 80233. At the same time, it is great to welcome the newly elected Jim Miller, Ward 1, Gaye Monroe, Ward 2, Susan Clyne, Ward 3, and Jill Parsons, Ward 4. Please feel free to join the festivities in welcoming the new council members. The swearing-in ceremony, which includes re-elected Mayor Kathie Novak, will be conducted at the January 12th, 2006 meeting at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, 11701 Community Center Drive. We have loads to do in the next year….which gets right down to it. Upcoming events to look for in 2006: Century Theatres open or close to opening Development Plans for the 120th & Grant corridor FasTracks preliminary planning for the corridor in Northglenn And much more. . . .
