Dear Ward 1 Residents, I apologize for the length of time it has taken to get an e-news brief to you. Since my swearing in, a lot has transpired that has caused a good deal of chaos in my life. Not all of it has been bad but it has been very time consuming. Late last year we had a death of a close relative in my husband’s family leaving three children somewhat orphaned. In January of 2008, one week after my swearing in, my husband and I took custody of the three children ages, 2, 5, and 7. In addition to our own two children our family nearly doubled over night. Needless to say, the love in our house has grown as much as the demands that such a family requires has grown. In February of 2008 we had a rare but necessary council meeting on a Sunday regarding the termination of our City Manager. It was a failed effort, but one I do not have any regrets over. Our city manager resigned on May 22nd and our city is now moving on in search of a better fit for our community. In April of 2008 ALL of City Council met with a facilitator in a two day retreat to discuss the important issues facing our city. During that retreat there were several repeating themes that kept coming up regarding our current situation at City Hall. With those repeating themes City Council has set some very realistic and very important goals to which we are ALL committed. We met again a few weeks ago and finalized our goals and set some firm direction for our city. You are now able to view those goals online at the City’s website. www.northglenn.org Overall, it has been a tough few months or so but in it our City Council has grown a little more united; even with the different views between all of us council members. I think we have started a new foundation to which our City can now move forward in a healthy and respectful way. Wholeheartedly, I am committed to working hard in achieving the goals we have set forth as a whole Council to better our wonderful community.
