Hello and Happy New Year Ward 1 Residents! I hope that your holiday season was filled with joy and peace. The year has started off with a new “intenseness” that I anticipate will keep us all busy for a while. I hope you all survived the snows recently. We have several things going on that are pretty exciting in one way or another. First of all, AJ Krieger, our new City Manager, is finally here full time. In case you haven’t been following the local media, he is from Ferguson, MO. He has hit the ground running and is working very hard already. I would encourage you to attend a meeting and introduce yourself to him (and me if we have not met already). At a recent study session our City Staff informed us that RTD’s Environment Impact Study (EIS) is still underway and that they have still kept the 112th and York stop site “on the table”. This is somewhat of a surprise since our Task Force recommended against it. City Council passed a motion to adopt the recommendation of the Task Force. In that recommendation, the Task Force suggested that a joint stop could be placed on Northglenn’s/Thornton’s border up on 124th and Claude Ct. If you would like to follow up with the Task Force recommendation, please visit www.northglenn.org and click on the FasTracks link. I am hosting a ward meeting on February 13th, 2007 at 6 p.m. at the Northglenn Christian Church on 105th and Irma. The topic of this meeting is FasTracks. I am going to try to get some representatives from the EIS team as well as RTD representatives there. There will be another EIS meeting with a public forum in March, but no specific date has been released yet. I would very much like to extend the information to those directly in the way of the rail lines so that all have an opportunity to speak in support or against the stop. Otherwise a decision may be made for you without your input. If you can not attend any of these meetings for some reason or another, try any of these options to submit your feedback: comments@rtdnorthmetro.com. Also, here is the url to submit comments: http://www.rtdnorthmetro.com/page_15. In case this doesn't work, you go to www.rtdnorthmetro.com and click on "Get Involved/Comment" and then you will see "Submit a Comment" which you click on. Lastly, I wanted to let you all know that I was supposed to host the Coffee w/the Council at Saxby’s on Saturday, February 3rd but it looks like they may still be under construction and not open for business yet by then. I have opted to take Saturday, March 3rd’s meeting if that is the case. Please join me for free coffee and some chat time then if you have the opportunity. Saxby’s Coffee is located at 120th and Claude Ct. (east of Irma still). Be well and be safe and as always, don’t hesitate to call or email me if you need anything. Ps. Be on the lookout for more public participation opportunities pertaining to recreation center discussion. |
