Hello Ward 1 Residents and others,

A lot has happened since my first E-Newsletter. New Council members were sworn in on January 12th, the City Manager resigned, Development has somewhat stalled, and of course I want to give you the general updates and FYI’s.

Our four new Council members have hit the ground running with all we have had come before City Council so far. We seem to still be in the same general make up of the last Council with a 5-4 split usually on the really big topics. Occasionally, we come out with different votes depending on the subject or topic of interest. If you are interested in those topics, I urge you to look at the City’s website: www.northglenn.org and look up public documents. You can pull up the council meeting information by date and read over the minutes from the meetings as they are posted.

City Council asked for the City Manager’s resignation on February 10th. Having done this is a major step towards progress for the city. We are now taking on the task of searching for a new City Manager and will hopefully have the new one place soon. Currently, our Deputy City Manager has stepped into the role of Interim City Manager until a new Manager is hired. I will keep you posted as things progress in our search for a new City Manager.

I am embarrassed to say that the Development on the 120th and Grant area has stalled yet again. We were given several dates this past year as to a “real” groundbreaking for the Century Theatres, but somehow or another there have been issues that come up to delay the progress of this development. I am hopeful that we will see some construction very soon but am hesitant to make any more announcements until we have actual confirmation that there are no more delays. The areas adjacent to the designated theatre site are also being “shopped out” to potential developers. Unfortunately, these things always take a lot of time and I would rather see it planned out well and done right than rush through it just to get something in.

Upcoming Ward Social

Every year I try to host at least two Ward Socials in the different parks in our ward. I would like to host a Ward Social on May 9th at 6 p.m. at South Park in Fox Run. All Ward 1 residents should receive a flyer about 10 days before the Social. Please mark the date on your calendar but be aware that the date may change subject to other events at the city. The flyer will have the definite date when it goes out.

In closing, I hope that you will utilize the links established with this newsletter to access public information from the City of Northglenn. If you have any suggestions or requests for information you would like to see please let me know. And as always, don’t hesitate to contact me with your concerns or comments. 720-872-8265
